Hi! I'm Rita, the gal behind "Healthy Beat Skinny."  Years of personal health trials errors and finally successes brought me here.  From a teen to late twenties I pursued health by working out and eating solely to achieve a specific body type - skinny.  Fat was my enemy.  Like most women my age, I looked at magazine models, used the words healthy and skinny interchangeably with the mirror and scale as judge. This led to cycles of unhealthy habits.  My goals were shallow, rooted only in the appearance of health. I tried to get the look of health without the lifestyle.  As my thirties approached I finally got it! I changed my goals, put health first, learned from my experiences, searched and studied.  I now understand workouts don't have to last hours, eating doesn't have to be boring and "dieting" really never needs to happen.  Our family uses nutrition as prevention and even a means to help our bodies heal. My goal is to share with you all I've learned and changed. Apply this to your life and achieve your ultimate health goals.  Let me show you how to stop dieting and start living a life well balanced!

Let's be friends!  Find me, say hi and tell me about you!

For now, here's a little of what makes me, me >>

1. I'm a farmer's wife and mom to two beautiful little girls.  We enjoy a simple life in the country with our lovable chocolate lab.

2. My husband and I met in college, Hail Purdue!

3. To use my degree I work as a nurse in a cardiovascular ICU, but being a mom is my biggest joy! I am blessed to be home with my kids way more than I'm at work. My youngest tells me daily that I am "the best mom EVER" and I'm basking in that while I still can!

4. I LOVE cooking sewing and being able to create purely from scratch! (like this blog, ha!)

5. I'm thankful for a loving God who is the giver of joy and grace.

Pilippians 2:3 "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves"
